Question (NPOC)

Assuming that

  1. a source dataset “Schutzgebiete” was identified with some information relevant to the INSPIRE theme “Protected sites” (required by the INSPIRE data model) but also containing other not relevant information (not required by the INSPIRE data model);
  2. the INSPIRE relevant information was extracted from the source dataset;
  3. the new extracted dataset was transformed into the INSPIRE data model for "Protected sites";
  4. the INSPIRE compliant dataset was made accessible through INSPIRE compliant network services (discovery, viewing and download services).
  5. at this point the INSPIRE implementation is finished for the source dataset "Schutzgebiete".

What has to be provided for INSPIRE (through INSPIRE compliant network services) at this point?

A. The new INSPIRE dataset "Protected sites" (INSPIRE data model) only, or

B. the new INSPIRE dataset "Protected sites” (INSPIRE data model) and additionally the source dataset "Schutzgebiete" (original data model)?

Answer (EC Inspire Team)

Option A seems fully INSPIRE conformant. If the ‘other’ data attributes in the source datasets are not in the scope of INSPIRE then none of it’s obligations apply. Hence, no need to publish the source dataset under the INSPIRE scope (as well as the option A dataset) .
